INTRODUCTION
The goal of institutionalizing good governance in this quarter took a reasonable and applaudable dimension with the successful conduct of town hall meetings with the newly elected Local Government Chairmen in Edo central Senatorial District.This meetings were tagged round table discussions because the Chairmen were actually not given stewardship but were receiving inputs from their people and explaining their plan in office to them. This was to create a yardstick to measure their activities and achievements in Office as well as helped the people make inputs into the Local Government budget and participate in the governance of their own affair Uromi Justice Development Peace and Caritas Initiatives conducted five quarterly meetings across the five Local Government Areas in Edo Central Senatorial District in this quarter. The emphasis was on strengthening the relationship and collaboration between the newly elected Local Government Chairmen and their People through the civic groups. Inputs were also taken on the level of community participation in governance and how they were able to influence project to their various communities. In the course of the meeting the Director Uromi JDPCI gave opening remark in all the Local Government Areas. In his remark he thanked the civic group members for their enthusiastic participation in the round table discussion with the Executive Chairmen of their Local Government Areas and implored them to ensure a follow up on the issues presented as well as to get their Councillors involved in the follow up. He further advised them to take advantage of the platform the council Chairmen have created for the continuous engagement to bring about progress in their respective communities. A dialogue with their councillors was important to constantly remind the Chairman of his promises. He further urged them to be concern about project going on in their communities through monitoring to ensure that the projects meet standard. He noted that transparency, accountability and participatory democracy were important to achieve community development. He further implored them to collaborate with government for every project sited in their communities to ensure durability and strife to sustain it to the advantage of the community.
