INTRODUCTION
Uromi Justice Development Peace and Caritas Initiatives (Uromi JDPCI) sustained her engagement for good governance with the strengthening of the capacities of civic group members across the five Local Government Areas in Edo Central Senatorial District to effective engage their representatives for community growth and development. This was done through quarterly meetings which were held in the month of September, 2018 in all of the five Local Government Areas in Edo Central Senatorial District. The meeting provided opportunity for shared learning and experience sharing among the various civic groups in each of the Local Government Areas. The emphasis in this quarter was on strengthening and developing of improvement plans for the sustainability of the civic group intervention across the target communities. In the course of the meeting the Director Uromi JDPCI gave opening remark in all the Local Government Areas. In his remark he thanked the civic group members for their sustained zeal and commitment since the commencement of the project and then implored them to continue with the same zeal even at the end of the project. He noted that what has been achieved was impressive but would require commitment and dedication to sustain them. He encouraged the groups to be active participants in political activities in their communities as passiveness would not yield the desire results in community development and political engagement. He further urged them to involve the traditional and community leaders in all their engagements. Uromi JDPCI concluded her SMILE intervention in Esan North East Local Government Area with lofty benefit to the households. Some households got cash transfer while some others got improved tree crops, all in an effort to improve their overall well-being. Concerted effort was also made to increase sensitization and campaign against human trafficking in Esan Land through sensitization visits to churches, schools, mosque, motor park and market. Some households were also assessed for empowerment with a bid to reduce their susceptibility to human trafficking. The micro credit department kept the vision of enterprise development alive through support to farmers and petty traders with verifiable enterprise. The prison apostolate desk took the health of the inmates as a priority in this quarter. This was done through health education and HCT.
