Organization’s history

Uromi Justice Development Peace and Caritas Initiatives (UROMI JDPCI) was created in 2006 by the Catholic Diocese of Uromi. The Organisation was officially registered as an Incorporated Trustee in 2010 with the Corporate Affairs Commission to serve as a vehicle for social services and integral development interventions for all regardless of race, colour, tribe and ethnicity.

Uromi JDPCI's Mission is to promote integral human development through motivation and participatory actions with relevant stakeholders toward policy reforms, empowerment of the people, and enhancement of human dignity for meaningful living. In achieving this Mission, She has continually repositions herself in the empowerment of the most vulnerable in communities, built capacities of communities to demand good governance, promote the rights and dignity of the human person and advocate for improved service provisions through her interventions and strategic partnerships with other Organisations. This has largely contributed to the meaningful development of her target population as well as contributed to the global sustainable development goals (SDGs) Uromi JDPCI operations are rooted in her core values which form the bases of her interventions namely: Excellence, Accountability, Transparency, Integrity, and Team Spirit.

Geared towards reinforcing her commitment to her vision statement and tracking progress towards goal accomplishment, Uromi JDPCI has undertaken the review of her Strategic plan for the next five years (2023-2027) to have a more realistic and focused blueprint that will further strengthen the relevance, effectiveness and impact of the Organisation for the common good.

This Strategic Plan is expected to consolidate on the achievements of the past years while creating an expanded intervention to reach more categories of target beneficiaries. The Plan in broad terms will strengthen the capacity of Uromi JDPCI to offer innovative, efficient, effective and sustainable human development programmes that contributes to the achievement of at least Six among the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) namely: Goal 1- No poverty, Goal 3-Good health and wellbeing, Goal 5-Gender Equality, Goal 10-Reduced Inequalities, Goal 13- climate action, and Goal 16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institution.

While looking up to a most impactful implementation of this strategic plan and direction, we appreciate our right holders for giving us the privilege to serve and work with them. To our benefactors and Partners for their immense contribution towards creating a better life for humanity.
