INTRODUCTION
As part of her efforts to promote social justice, improve the knowledge of human rights of citizens, and a means to devise a more effective Alternative Dispute Resolution system, Uromi Justice Development Peace and Caritas Initiative in partnership with MISEROR Germany embarked on a Human Rights Intervention across 5 Local Government Areas of Edo Central Senatorial District. Thus far executed this quarter include; gender equality sensitization bordering on Female disinheritance and women inclusion in family and societal life, 2nd Quarterly meeting of paralegals, Biannual Conference of Paralegals and Training on Justice Administration and Conflict Management for Paralegals and Human Rights Advocates. As part of efforts to promote collaborative initiatives at strengthening security in Esan Land an eminent stakeholders forum was conveyed to address salient issues for peaceful coexistence in the senatorial district. In a view to retain school adolescent girls in schools so that they do not get lured by human traffickers, Uromi JDPCI carried out activity to select would be beneficiaries of an intervention “DON’T PAY WITH YOUR LIFE” In a similar line, Uromi JDPCI also intensified efforts to sensitize communities, schools, markets and churches on the need for safe migration while discouraging human trafficking and irregular migration on the platform of sustainable measures against trafficking in persons (SMAT-P). In this respect, contact was made with 699 made of 291 males and 408 females including children from amongst 2 market, 3 schools and 4 communities in 2 LGAs in Edo Central Senatorial District. In the same vein, Uromi JDPCI provided welfare and spiritual support to the inmates in Ubiaja prison through the provision of toiletries and the offering of Holy Mass with a family The Micro Credit desk sustained the empowerment drive with the provision of support to 1062 beneficiaries in 85 groups across communities in Edo Central Senatorial District.
