INTRODUCTION
Uromi Justice Development Peace and Caritas Initiatives sustained developmental effort across its thematic areas to contribute to peaceful coexistence, better information sharing and improved livelihood in the five Local Government Areas of Edo Central Senatorial District. In the human rights desk, Uromi JDPCI improved the capacity of Human Rights Club members and Paralegals in 27 communities with training on the Legal system, Judicial procedures and basic legal terms, quarterly meeting for experience sharing and shared learning. This was to strengthen the effort for the development of synergy and mobilization of local resources for effective response to human rights promotion in the selected communities across the five LGAs. Uromi JDPCI also conducted monitoring to beneficiaries in previous project as well as engaged some of the beneficiaries across the five LGAs in discussion on better parenting with a bid to improve their capacity for improved caregiving which would reduce susceptibility to human trafficking and irregular migration. Uromi JDPCI also engaged in sensitization across communities, schools and church to raise awareness on the danger of human trafficking and irregular migration and promote the need to curb the ugly trend in Edo Central Senatorial District. Parents’-caregivers’ dialogue on human trafficking and irregular movement in three LGAs was also facilitated within this period In the same vein, Uromi JDPCI provided welfare and spiritual support to the inmates in Ubiaja prison through the celebration of New Year with the inmates and the provision of food stuff to them during Easter. The Micro Credit desk also sustained the empowerment drive with the provision of support to beneficiaries in groups across communities in Edo Central Senatorial District.
